Andrew Winchur and Chris Cavanagh speak to Elli Weisbaum, FES alumni and International Program Coordinator with Wake Up Schools, about mindfulness, education and social change.

Elli's recent documentary, Wake Up Schools, screened as part of the 2016 Eco-Art & Media Festival. The 15-minute documentary explores a global initiative led by spiritual leader Thich Nhat Hanh to cultivate mindfulness in education.

Here are links to some of the things we talked about:

- Plum Village, an international mindfulness centre located near Bordeaux in southern France.

-"The Mindful Revolution," A 2014 Time Magazine cover story on the popularization of mindfulness.

-"This is Your Brain on Mindfulness", a 2011 article in The Shambhala Sun (now Lion's Roar) on the neuroscience of mindfulness practices.

-Paper Tigers, a 2015 documentary on addressing students with experiences of trauma in a rural Washington State school.

-Thich Nhat Hanh’s statement on Climate Change for the United Nations ahead of the 2015 Paris Climate summit.

-"We Live in the Best of All Times": The Shambhala Sun's conversation with Alice Walker.
